Overview
The Dry Leaf Disc is a precision sensor attachment designed to improve camera-based recognition accuracy and enhance the quality of environmental data collected by DryAir sensors. It has replaced the Original Grey Sphere Dry Leaf Ball.
Introduced in Q1 2026, the Disc addresses a key limitation of previous measurement cycles: data computation is now performed concurrently with sample acquisition, eliminating post-collection processing delays and reducing measurement error associated with environmental drift between sampling and analysis.
NOTE The Dry Leaf Disc is not a standalone sensor. It must be used in together with a compatible DryAir+ sensor unit.
Dry Leaf Disc Description
The Disc consists of two functional surfaces with distinct roles in the measurement pipeline.
Top Surface — Calibration Face
The top surface is finished in matte black and functions as the primary calibration reference for the camera system. This surface must remain clean, unobstructed, and correctly oriented toward the camera lens at all times. Any debris, condensation, or shadowing on this surface will degrade calibration accuracy and may introduce measurement offset errors.

Bottom Surface — Mounting Face
The bottom surface houses the mechanical interface that attaches with the DryAir sensor body. The bottom surface includes built-in guides and a locking feature that keep the disc properly aligned and securely attached to the sensor for accurate readings.

Assembled Configuration
When sensor is delivered, it will need to be assembled. Here you will find the installation guide.

The correctly assembled unit (see image below) should present a clean, uninterrupted matte black surface to the camera field of view.

In case your DryAir+ sensor had a previous Dry Leaf Ball, here you will find the installation guide.
Installation
Orientation and Positioning
Correct angular orientation of the Disc within the greenhouse is critical for camera calibration performance. The following rules must be observed:
- The black top surface (calibration face) must be angled directly toward the camera lens
- The calibration face must be fully visible to the camera — no obstructions, shadows, or partial occlusions are acceptable
- The Disc should be positioned such that the camera captures the full disc area within the calibration zone

Accepted Installation Examples
The following configurations represent compliant installation orientations validated for use in production greenhouse environments:

Post-Installation Verification
After installation, perform the following checks to confirm the Disc is correctly positioned and operational:
- Access the camera view in the Sigrow App and verify the Disc is detected within the camera frame
- Place the Dry Leaf camera point directly on the thermal image of the Dry Leaf Disc
NOTE If the camera images appear distorted or if you notice a black corner in one of the images, please request a camera calibration via support@sigrow.com.
