To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your devices, please follow the care and maintenance guidelines outlined below.
- 1. Installation
- 2. Regular Inspection
- 3. Cleaning
- 4. Calibration
- 5. Power management
- 6. Connectivity
- 7. 1 Year Warranty
1. Installation
- The best method of care is to ensure proper installation from the beginning. A high quality installation will keep your sensors in good shape for years.
- Devices should be placed upright in a vertical position, slightly elevated, and fixed to something.
- Placing your device directly on the growing table isn’t recommended because it could facilitate the entrance of water via the air inlets, breaching your warranty.
- Placement examples seen here: https://help.sigrow.com/sensor-placement
- To discard problems of liquid ingress place your sensors vertically in a stable placement and do not spray them from below the horizontal line (see image to the right →). The bottom of the device is where relative humidity and air temperature measurements are taken. There is an opening in the case to enable forced ventilation via a fan.
2. Regular Inspection
- Periodically inspect devices for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
- Check batteries regularly. See section 5 for instructions how to change and/ or charge the device.
Tip: Set a minimum threshold alert in your Sigrow web app account where battery % = 32. ( See how to set alert - here )
3. Cleaning
- Dust may accumulate on the diffuser at the top of the sensor. It is recommended to periodically wipe the diffuser to prevent a drift in PAR readings.
- Dust may accumulate on the external solar panel. It is recommended to periodically wipe the external solar panel for optimal charging.
- Clean devices using a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive materials or cleaning agents.
- If necessary, use a mild detergent on a damp cloth.
- Do not immerse devices in water or any cleaning solutions.
- To disinfect, we recommend isopropanol.
4. Calibration
- Some components of your device require regular calibration. Details of the recommended calibration frequency and calibration steps are found here:
5. Power management
- Devices run on batteries.
- Older models run on 2x AA batteries that require change once drained and do not have a charging port.
- Newer models run on 1x 18650 battery that is chargeable via external solar panel as well as via micro USB or USB-C.
- Replace battery instructions: https://help.sigrow.com/how-to-replace-sensor-batteries
- Charge battery instructions: https://help.sigrow.com/how-to-charge-your-sensors
6. Connectivity
- Connectivity in EU - Between Gateway → database
- Sigrow gateway v5 can connect via LTE-M (4G Mobile)
- Sigrow cameras system can connect via LTE (4G)
- Radio Connectivity in EU - Between Sensor → Central/Gateway
- Sigrow makes use of several radio technologies to enable access to your data.
- Most Sigrow sensors connect to the centrals/gateways using the Industrial Scientific Medical free band of each region (For instance in Europe 868 MHz band and North America 910 MHz band); this band is a shared band and fair usage is expected by the consumer. This is less than 10% of duty cycle per customer.
- It is the responsibility of the final customer to ensure that the devices are not taken outside the region that they were intended to be used for (For instance moving a sensor from Germany to United States) to comply with the local radio normative.
- This region-change can be carried out at Sigrow offices.
7. 1 Year Warranty
- Warrants to the owner of the Sigrow-branded product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of delivery following the original reception of the product (the “Warranty Period”).
WARRANTY; HOW TO GET SERVICE UNDER LIMITED WARRANTY
Before making a claim under this Limited Warranty, the owner of the Product must (a) write to support@sigrow.com during the Warranty Period to provide notice of your warranty claim and describe the alleged failure, and (b) comply with Sigrow support (or its authorized distributor's) return shipping instructions. If the product failure falls under warranty, Sigrow will bear up to 100 EUR costs of shipping to the owner and will reimburse it as a discount for your next purchase or in your service tariff.
WHAT THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
This Limited Warranty does not cover consumable parts, including batteries, unless damage is due to defects in materials or workmanship of the Product, Sigrow recommends that you use only authorized service providers for maintenance or repair. Sigrow can not cover the warranty of sensors that have been immersed in water or sprayed with water-jets below the horizontal line (see Fig. 1). Unauthorized use of the Product or software can impair the Product’s performance and may invalidate this Limited Warranty.
